NY Renaissance fair
Saturday we spent the day at the NY Renaissance fair. We had a great day there. It was rather expensive, but a day filled with pageants and jousts. The crew dressed and played their parts with the old English mannerisms and wording. It was funny watching the one juggler fool around with Zack and Dylan got his face painted with a spider and a dragon on his arm. We will probably go again next year.

laughed when I read this. Needed to share
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can't have the Ten
Commandments posted in a courthouse or Congress is this --
you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou
Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not
Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and
politicians .... it creates a hostile work environment.

Ok so not a photo taken by me, but I went to see the movie Julie and Julia. It was a really good movie. One of the best I have seen in a while. Now I don't think I will by the book which I was planning to as it has a lot of curse words according to the author. There was only 1 that I detected in the movie. I'm not sure why one needs to put it in films. I don't get the whole gotta curse for the sake of doing it as the English language is colorful enough, I would think you could come up with a word to express yourself. But the movie was delightful in its own rights. If you get the chance to see it, do it is worth it. Unfortunately I couldn't post the movie trailer, but you can see it if you search for it.

Presenting the NJ art group
Its been a while. Five of us have joined together and under Jim's co-ordination have formed the beginnings of the NJ art group. http://njag.yolasite.com/. Gathered together in Flemington were Jim, Celeste and I on a Thursday night in the park in town. 2 of the members are missing. We have only been at it for a few weeks so hopefully it will grow. It is surprising that people don't know what plein air painting is. Tonight we were in Clinton. The people strolling by with their ice cream and iced coffee, were pleased to see painters out on the street. I will keep you updated as things progress.

Charge
Took this video of cows making a beline for the feeding trough. I thought it would be an appropriate introduction for my pictures of England as soon as I get a chance to start posting them. it was a wonderful trip beautiful countryside and this was my thoughts on the charge to get there minus the airline delays which is another story altogether. I wasn't ready for the charge home which happened all too soon. BOO HOO.
Blogger should have some emotes to add to the blog posts just for humor. If they are out there someone let me know.

Girl scout right of passage.
Abby and her friends took part in a move up ceremony. She now can call herself a Cadet girl scout. I remember my short time as a girl scout. It is nice to see that the traditions are still alive in this day and age, when kids seem to grow up so fast. Times are different now. Kids are so much more sophisticated and worldly. It is good to see tradition still alive even for a short period of time.

Mothers day and day out on tuesday
Mothers day Rick and I were invited to a church of his friend. He is a lovely old Polish gentleman who loves to celebrate with his friends. He sponsors a huge Christmas party every year for children of like just everyone he knows. It is the biggest free bash I have ever attended. He got his church to hold a mothers day celebration. I wish I had taken my camera inside the church. The stained glass windows were a celebration of history and I suppose Polish history since it is a polish church. Every panel had a different picture and there must have been 50 panes per wall. There were two walls covered with pictures. Totally awesome. Now I love grave yards. There is something so peaceful and quiet about them. The two statues I didnt get up close. I wanna take another trip there one day

just checking.
Working out some new images for painting ideas. I have so many images on my computer that I get delirious. Well the kids and I went to a horse plowing event during the summer at Howell Farms. http://www.howellfarm.org/ I took alot of pictures while we were there. I have this picture of the farmer checking the produce. It looks like there is a possibility there so I may sketch it out.

catching some rays
Dogs always love to sit and catch some sun. That was a nice light and shadow shot. Dylan on the other hand was so so so wanting to be able to draw and paint like me. I can tell you there was a bit of an upset because he couldnt do it. For 6 years old I think he draws rather well and I encourage him to draw. With a little help with the drawing he got to color it and I promised to post it on my other blog if you follow.

marshmallow world
I wonder if the cold slows down computers. It took me a long time to get these uploaded. The video from you tube says it all. I am living in a marshmallow world. All big puffy blobs of it. Snow looks so pretty in the early morning hours and it makes the world look so clean. That is until the plows start mucking up the pristine scene of pure white touched by the colors of dawn.

doggy snow day.
Poor Chelsea can't play in the snow anymore. She does love to eat it. I think she goes out just to have her icy treat. How come dogs dont get brain freeze. We had a spinger spaniel that would run around and catch all the snowballs that you could throw his way. We poor humans, if we eat ice cream too fast we are suffering from the shortest but most intense headache there is. If dogs get brain freeze they sure don't show it.

lol beauty and the beast.
I never know which picture will show up first. I took a picture of a beautiful cloud formation during the summer. I know it is still winter, but it has been so cold. I am waiting for some warmer weather. The dog is my daughter Jamie's. She may look cute but she is such a nut. When Jamie was in school, I would wake her up in the morning. That dog would lunge at me to attack an as soon as Jamie was gone she would jump into my bed and snuggle next to me. She is terrified of thunderstorms, but if the door is left open she will run away during one, instead of hiding which is her normal attitude during a storm. Go figure. Beauty is the cloud, guess who the beast is.

Bosham - a great place to be an artist
This is the most wonderful place for painting, drawing and just chilling, it is a tidal estuary called Bosham, its not far from home for me and during the summer months we go there for the day, its quite often the case that over the last year I have been left to draw or paint on my own while my husband and sone both go off walking. I don't mind, gives me a few minutes of peace, and now that I am getting more confident I will start producing some nice paintings, well I hope so.

early morning winter scapes
I commented on one of my autumn post about the landscape changing to the dull landscapes of winter. Little did I know that on my camera was a little setting that changed these early morning pictures to a colorful palette of morning. It seems it pays to read the book that comes with the camera. The settings I found switching from video to picture mode totally by accident. Would you believe the night scene setting took such lovely colored pictures. I never had much luck capturing the image I wanted using the ISO settings. Ah go figure. Lesson for the New Year.... go read the instruction manual.
